The funniest thing about how our little dog scratches the ground is how she holds her hind legs back in a stretched pose. The other funny thing about her is she will scratch the ground to mark it with the scent glands in her paws even if she hasn’t peed or pooped. I’ve never seen a dog scratch for nothing before and hold the hind legs back in a stretch like that. She’s like a ballerina holding an arabesque.

Our dogs Lady & Buxley were play-fighting today and making the funniest noises while we lay in bed resting!

A few years ago, Buxley played like this with Andy because JJ wasn’t as playful with him. Lady has been great for Buxley and vice-versa.

Here’s my husband being himself in public… again.

Now that we got the Wii Fit Plus that allows you to create Miis for your pets and weigh them (and track changes), I set up Buxley and Lady. Now we have our whole family represented in Miis. When I saw the screen this morning, it reminded me of those people who have the cutout sticky people on the rear windows of their vehicles. Those people always have straight families: Mother, Father, Daughter, Son, with maybe some cats and dogs. I’ve always thought it would be funny to have stickers of two men and two dogs on the back of my car. Well, this is the closest I’ve come to that yet: my family in Wii Miis.

And yes, I did mean “Our Wii Family” to be a pun of “Our Wee Family.”

Oh, and by the way, Lady’s already lost 2.5 pounds in the past month since we’ve been feeding her less. Yay, Lady!

Um, do I need to say that Wii Fit Plus is a registered trademark of Nintendo, Inc.? =)

My husband & I got the Wii Fit Plus game today. That’s him flapping his arms like a bird to play Bird’s-eye Bull’s-eye, and me laughing hysterically in the background. I don’t know how much exercise we got out of our Wii Fit Plus tonight, but the laughs were priceless!

Lady says, "Hats are not the fashion for canines such as me; nevertheless, noblesse oblige!"

Sir Buxley Smithers-Greene also deigned to pose in a holiday costume.

A noble hound indeed!

Andy shot this video while we we enjoying our time in Ketchikan, AK on the Alaskan cruise we took in June. Here, he shows the Creek flowing under Creek Street and we have fun discussing the bawdy history of Dolly’s.

Transcription:

Andy: Welcome, everyone. This is Creek Street. This used to be all brothels. And… there were, like, 34 brothels along the creek here. And… this is in downtown Ketchikan, and that was pretty much the way it was until, I think they said, 1934. We do have a light rain falling right now, but in general, it’s just a wonderful day in the neighborhood. And there’s my wonderful husband…
Daniel: Hi!
(The next section of dialogue spoken with a stuffy English accent)
Andy: …in front of Dolly’s. Dolly’s used to be what?
Daniel: Well, Miss Dolly was the proprietress of a house of sporting women.
Andy: Does that mean they liked to play volleyball?
Daniel: It means they liked to play the sort of sports that men like to play, if you catch my drift.
Andy: Like the skin flute?
(Back to regular American accent)
Daniel: Something like that.
Andy: Uh-huh.
Daniel: (laughs)
Andy: (English accent again) Oh, paw-paw, what do you think? Dolly’s is quite interesting!

Yes, we don’t know how it happened or why it happened — there’s water in his water bowl! — but our J.J. has gotten into the habit of licking our wet legs after we shower. Heck, he even sticks his snout into the shower while we’re in it and licks the bathtub. But when either of us steps out of the shower — or even while we stand in it and dry off — he licks the water off our legs. Now, I know there are bound to be some people who think we shouldn’t let him do this, but we think it’s harmless and sweet.
